A good printing brief does not need to be complicated. It needs to answer the questions that affect garment selection, artwork preparation, production planning and the quote itself.
Describe the project in plain language: a clothing label sample, staff shirts, an event run, a cafe merch range, a band release or a printed skateboard deck.
List the preferred garment type, fit, colour and size range. If you are unsure, explain the look and feel you want. The Garments page is a useful starting point.
Include the total quantity and the size breakdown. If you are testing an idea, say whether you need a sample before a larger run.
State whether the print is on the front, back, sleeve, pocket or another area. Approximate dimensions and reference images make the conversation clearer.
Attach the best available file, even if it is not perfect. A printer can then explain whether it needs fixing, redrawing or a design route through Artwork Help.
Give the event, launch or delivery date and allow time for artwork approval and garment decisions.
Next step: Use this checklist before starting a quote through Custom Apparel Printing.
