Skateboard deck artwork needs to be prepared around the finished shape rather than treated like a standard rectangular poster. The file should give the printer enough information to assess scale, placement and detail.
Use the deck dimensions and shape supplied for the project. If you do not have a template, ask for the correct format before building the final artwork.
Keep small type, logos and critical faces away from edges, curves and hardware areas. Give the composition room to breathe so it still reads when the deck is viewed at a distance.
Use vector artwork for logos and type where possible. For raster images, start with the largest clean file available and check the artwork at the intended output size.
Look at the artwork on the full deck shape, not just the flat design file. Check the nose, tail, mounting holes and any areas where the deck’s shape changes the visual balance.
